Time-based alerts are only half the story. ETasks can notify you when you arrive at a place tied to a task (or leave, if you want), and Calendar Map keeps every place-based to-do on one map.
Some tasks only matter when you are in the right place: pick up dry cleaning when you drive past, grab milk when you leave work, drop a package when you get home. A 9:00 AM reminder does not help if you are still at your desk.
ETasks attaches a place to the task and uses on-device geofences so the alert can fire even when the app is closed. Enable Location notifications under Settings → Labs, and grant Always location access so reminders work in the background.
Location reminders
Open a task, tap Add location, pick a place on the map (search, tap, or use your current spot), and save. You get notified when you arrive. Turn on Leaving notifications in Labs if you also want reminders when you leave.
With Location notifications on, Calendar gains a Map mode alongside Month, Week, Day, and Agenda. Open tasks that already have a location show as pins. Tap an empty spot to create a task there, or drag a task onto the map to set its place.
Stock Google Tasks has no location reminders. Connect your Google account to ETasks and attach places to the same tasks that sync with Gmail and Google Calendar. Place metadata travels with the task the same way other ETasks enhancements do; the arrive and leave alerts fire in ETasks on your iPhone. On shared lists, location reminders stay personal: collaborators never see your places or get your alerts.
