Does Google Tasks have a widget for a specific list on iPhone?

“Google Tasks widget for a specific list” usually means you want Work, Personal, or Errands on the Home Screen by itself, not a mixed glance of everything. Stock Google Tasks gives you a Home Screen widget. Choosing one named list is a different question.

Short answer

Google’s Tasks app for iPhone includes a Home Screen widget (and Today View). Google’s setup help covers adding the widget and picking a size. It does not document a clear “show only this list” picker the way people mean when they search for a Work or Personal list widget.

If you need one list pinned as its own glance, you either live with the stock widget’s default view, keep opening the list inside the app, or use a native client that can configure a list widget. ETasks list widgets are built for that: pin any task list, then tap a row to open that task in the app. Changes still sync two ways with Google Tasks.

What people mean by a specific-list widget

A generic Tasks widget answers “what is on my plate?” A list-specific widget answers “what is on this plate?” Common reasons:

  • Keep a work inbox on the Home Screen without mixing home chores
  • Put grocery or errands next to Maps and Wallet
  • Mirror how you already split projects across Google Tasks lists
  • Avoid scrolling the wrong list after a quick glance

That is not the same as pinning a list inside the app. An in-app pin (which stock Tasks also lacks) changes which list you open first. A Home Screen widget is the glance you see before you unlock a deep work session.

What stock Google Tasks gives you

On iPhone, install Google Tasks, open it once, then add the Tasks widget from the iOS gallery. Google documents Home Screen and Today View setup, including size choices, in its Tasks widget help.

What that covers well:

  • A live slice of Tasks without launching the full app every time
  • Small, medium, or large layouts
  • A place on Today View if you prefer the left-swipe stack

What people still hit after adding it:

  • No documented Lock Screen layout in Google’s guide
  • No marketing for eight specialized types (today, upcoming, quick add, per-list)
  • No clear, durable “always show List X” framing for multi-list households

Stock Tasks remains fine if one mixed glance plus opening the right list in-app is enough. The gap shows up when you keep several active lists and want each role of your day to have its own tile.

Workarounds that wear thin

Common patterns:

  • Reorder lists so the important one sits first, then hope the widget reflects what you care about. List order helps navigation; it is not the same as a dedicated list widget.
  • Maintain a single mega-list so the stock widget stays simple. That collapses the organization you built lists for.
  • Mirror one list into Apple Reminders only for widgets. Now you maintain two systems.
  • Put Calendar on the Home Screen instead. Dated tasks can appear when the Tasks calendar is enabled, but chips are not a checklist you manage like a list widget.

Those hacks work until an account switch, OS update, or busy week makes the glance unreliable.

When a native list widget helps

Stay with stock Tasks if you mostly live in one list, open the app daily anyway, and the official Home Screen widget already shows enough.

Consider a native Google Tasks client when Gmail and Google Calendar stay home base, but your Home Screen needs role-based tiles. ETasks is a native Google Tasks app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It syncs two ways with Google Tasks and ships eight widget types, including list widgets you can point at any task list, plus today and upcoming views, Lock Screen next-task and today’s count, and quick add.

ETasks does not invent a Google-side “widget list” field that Google’s own Tasks app would show on web or Android. The list pick lives in the ETasks widget configuration on your Apple devices. Tap a task on the widget and you land on it in the app, with the same Google Tasks data you see in Gmail and Calendar after sync.

Quick answers

Does Google Tasks have a widget for a specific list on iPhone? Google documents a Home Screen Tasks widget by size. It does not document a clear choose-this-list pin for named lists the way that search usually means.

Can I put only my Work list on the Home Screen? Not as a first-class stock control. Use the stock widget plus opening Work in-app, or a client with configurable list widgets.

Is a list widget the same as pinning a list? No. Pinning is about open-first inside the app. A list widget is a Home Screen (or Lock Screen) glance for one list.

Do ETasks list widgets stay in sync with Google? Yes. They sit on two-way Google Tasks sync, so checking work off elsewhere still updates what you see after the widget refreshes.
