Is there a Google Tasks app for Apple Watch?

If you have typed “Google Tasks Apple Watch,” “Google Tasks Watch app,” or “complete Google Tasks from Apple Watch,” you already know the frustration. Google’s Tasks app stops at the phone. Your wrist stays empty.

What Google ships (and what it does not)

Google Tasks works inside Gmail, Google Calendar, and a thin iPhone app. You can create lists, set due dates, and check items off across those surfaces. That ecosystem is useful if your day already runs through Google.

What Google does not offer is an Apple Watch app. There is no official way to browse your Google Tasks lists on the Watch, complete a task from your wrist, or get a haptic nudge when something is due. The FAQ on ETasks states it plainly: Google does not make a Watch app for Tasks.

That gap matters more than it sounds. Half the value of a to-do list is catching the right moment: in a store, mid-errand, hands full. Pulling out an iPhone for every check-off breaks the flow.

Why people keep searching for it

Apple Watch is where many people notice time-sensitive work first. A glanceable list beats opening an app, finding the right list, and tapping through a phone UI while you hold bags or keys.

Common situations that expose the missing Watch app:

  • Grocery or errand lists you share (or keep solo) and need to clear item by item.
  • Quick completes when you finish something away from your desk.
  • Reminders you feel on your wrist instead of a banner you swipe away on the phone.

Apple Reminders has a Watch app, which is why some Google users bounce between two systems. That works until you maintain two lists for the same life.

Workarounds that usually disappoint

Some people mirror due dates into Calendar events with alerts. Calendar can notify the Watch, but you are no longer managing Tasks; you are duplicating work and still cannot check off the original task from your wrist.

Others copy tasks into Apple Reminders just for Watch access. Sync becomes manual. Items drift. The “source of truth” in Gmail and Google Calendar stops matching what you actually finished.

Automations and third-party bridges appear in forums every few months. They tend to break after an OS update, need constant babysitting, or only push notifications without a real list UI on the Watch.

What a real Watch companion needs

A useful Apple Watch experience for Google Tasks is not a notification mirror. It should let you:

  • Browse your lists without unlocking the phone.
  • Complete a task on the Watch and have that change sync back to Google Tasks (and show up in Gmail and Calendar).
  • Receive reminders and deadline warnings with haptics you notice, plus actions like postpone or complete.

That is the bar. Anything less still leaves you fishing for the phone.

How ETasks fills the gap

ETasks is a native Google Tasks client for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It syncs two ways with Google Tasks, or you can use it fully locally with no Google account.

The Apple Watch app is built for the two-second interaction: raise your wrist, see the list, tap to complete. Changes sync to your iPhone and to Google Tasks. Reminders and deadline warnings reach the Watch with haptics. It works with Google-connected lists and with local lists the same way.

If you need alarms that ring insistently (not only Watch taps), ETasks also adds task alarms on iPhone and Watch. Widgets, shared lists, and planner views sit on the phone side when you want more than a checklist.
